Working with an impressionist's focus on how light, shadow, and color can be pushed just beyond reality, Charla is a nature, abstract, and portrait artist who combines oils, pencil, and other media to communicate the universal experience of a world altered by the onlooker's perceptions.

"When we encounter something that moves us emotionally, why does the visual memory of that experience change with every incarnation of that memory - so often assuming richer, even other-worldly dimension in the mind's eye?"

“So my paintings are mercurial - at times heightened in terms of vibrancy and texture (pronounced or cracked), but often completely muted, barely there.”

An award-winning fine artist who creates commissioned artwork - including portraiture, upon request - Charla studied fine art during her undergrad years at University of Southern California and Santa Monica College, respectively. She also worked as a docent for the Los Angeles Museum of Art (LACMA), and apprenticed with Marie Jones, her paternal aunt and a well-known street artist back in the day when Westwood, CA, was a thriving artist's colony.

Charla has sold her pieces to art lovers locally, throughout the US, and internationally.

In addition to working with mixed media and oils on canvas, linen, or board, Charla also creates mosaic installations using a combination of locally sourced materials and artifacts (beach detritus).

Charla's primary residence, workspace, and muse is the quiet seaside village of Cambria, CA.
